happy earth day friends this is me standing on a picnic table
(that lil llama is attached to my overalls!! his name is winkin woolly)
(SORRY THIS IS A HUGE GARBLE OF WORDS I JUST WANTED TO BE HELPFUL IDK)
hello! i’ve gotten a lot of similar sort of questions asking why/how/ i primarily work in ballpoint pen and i am finally going to be providing some hopefully-satisfactory blurbs!!
i am going to provide a brief history
SO THAT’S WHY I DO IT
i still do work with pencil/pencil crayons/coloured pencil/etc but yeah ballpoint pens 99.9% of the time woohooo
i don’t really know what to say in the way of tips!! mainly because i just kind of do whatever i want all the time and hope it turns out!! but here are some sentences about things:
sorry this was probably just a lot of words and sentences but hopefully maybe it helped someone out there!! thanks for your interest and good luck <3
ahh thank you so much, that’s very sweet of you! and guess what - you’re totally right!! i do have a special little world revolving around me.
it’s dear to me and i spend a lot time - all of my time, in fact - caring for it and expressing myself through it.
but guess what?
so does everybody else - including you!!
every single person has a little world that revolves solely around them - their interests, goals, dreams, insecurities, worries, experiences, memories, favourite ice cream flavours - they’re all there! everyone has experienced truly unique things and has important stories and thoughts of their own (these are probably housed in the stars that hover around their planets)
treat every person you meet as if they have a tiny little universe inside them - because, in fact, they do :’)
have a wonderful day!!
close-ups of this commission i recently finished and am super in love with!! ahh painting this was really therapeutic and calming and if you ever need a huge painting of an enchanted forest that i could work on for 20 hours please give me a shout because i would love every second of it
if you ever commission me to design a tattoo for you i think i’ll probably love you forever tbh (i’m saving up for a tattoo gun!! aahh)
potential tattoo designs!! these are the kinds of doodles i do all over my notebooks anyway so when my friend asked me to design her a tattoo that was similar in style i was so happy! (her’s is the large one on the right - click for higher res)
so my chem teacher told me that i look like a water molecule today and i just
sketchbook work - pen, pencil crayon, some leaves stuck on there, and the left side is a developed film photo of me in new york. the white hand is scratched onto the actual photograph, and accompanied with some white-out pen.
HI EVERYONE! I have a single print of this available at the moment (left over from the art show) that I am selling! The dimensions are roughly 14 x 18”. I’m starting the price at 45$ (CAD) (+shipping), but the highest offer wins seeing as there is only one print available. Message or email me if you’re interested!!
ahh hello everyone!! sorry for the lack of posts recently but i’ve been incredibly busy - and i have some crazy news to share with you guys!
My two incredible friends, Grayson and Tempo, (seen with me in the bottom right photo) have spent 5 months with me putting together a really kickass art show we called Tabula Rasa! The aim of the event was to begin to foster a community of young artists all across Edmonton by giving young artists the opportunity to showcase their brilliance in a gallery show (which included visual arts like painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and poetry, and performance arts such as spoken-word poetry and music!!). We included People’s Choice Awards, collaborative canvases with loads of supplies (that turned out really cool ahh - there was also a draw to win these, as well), and loads of free food. The second half of the event, taking place the following day, was a series of workshops lead by prominent working Edmontonian artists - which is a super cool opportunity for networking and opened a lot of doors in the way of mentorship!!
The event itself turned out absolutely phenomenal - I was really, really impressed by the caliber of work submitted and upwards of 300 people came to the gallery throughout the course of the night. The atmosphere was infectiously positive and I am insanely proud of how well it turned out!! ((tbh i kept having to remind myself that i was one of the organizers and had to keep tabs on things instead of running off to enjoy everything that was going on))
We’re definitely planning on turning this into an annual event, so stay tuned for next year if you live in the Edmonton area!
The process of planning and advertising and budgeting and networking in order to make the show the huge success that it was was a huge amount of dedication and work but I’m so happy that we, as three highschool students, managed to pull off something this crazy.
BASICALLY THIS IS A HUGE TESTAMENT TO THE FACT THAT YOUNG PEOPLE ARE CAPABLE AND INCREDIBLE AND I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO DOING MORE STUFF LIKE THIS WOW
wH A T THA NK YOU SO MUCH THANK YOU I LOVE YOU
